Automobiles in Germany's Town Found Covered with Nazi Symbols in Human Blood, Police Report

Incident location Affected vehicle Area Police
Officers reported they were notified by a individual who found a car in Hanau marked with reddish substance

Approximately 50 vehicles have been marked with what appears to be human bodily fluid in the German city of Hanau close to Frankfurt, according to police.

Vehicles, building surfaces and postal boxes were defaced, sometimes with Nazi symbols, they stated in a release.

Law enforcement report they were alerted late on Wednesday, when a resident noticed that a car in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been marked with a reddish substance.

The liquid had been placed in the shape of a Nazi symbol, they stated.

Officers then found multiple other vandalized vehicles and residential walls in the nearby vicinity.

Swastikas are banned in Germany under regulations banning the public display of Nazi-era symbols.

Officials say early analysis show the liquid was likely human bodily fluid.

"There is still no clue as to its origin; investigators are currently not aware of any physical harm in connection with the incident," they commented.

City officials announced they were working "to solve the mystery" and have requested to the public for tips.

A senior representative said the vandalism made him stunned and had to be solved promptly.

"This incident hits the center of Hanau and reawakens the wounds of the right-wing terrorist attack five years ago," he posted on social media, recalling the murder of nine victims by a assailant focusing on people of migrant background in February 2020.
