Two Detentions in the Aftermath of Heathrow Irritant Spray Attack

This incident caused the temporary closure of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the T3 parking area.

Two more people are now in custody in connection with a theft at London's Heathrow Airport in which 21 people were injured by what is thought to be pepper spray, according to law enforcement.

A man, 24, was taken into custody in Lambeth on suspicion of theft and assault and a 23-year-old woman was detained for suspected conspiracy to commit robbery. They both are still being held, the force said.

These detentions follow a probe into an assault at the multi-storey car park at Terminal 3 on Sunday. Before the incident, a pair of female travelers had stolen from them their luggage after getting out of a parking garage elevator.

A toddler aged three was one of the injured during the incident. A total of five individuals were taken to the hospital for medical care and have since been released.

Officers detained a man in his thirties on suspicion of robbery and assault near the location. He was subsequently released pending further inquiries as the investigation proceeds.

Police were alerted at approximately 08:10 GMT following reports of a number of individuals hurt by a noxious substance thought to be an irritant spray.

The assault - which police said was a standalone incident and not being treated as terrorism - caused delays to rail services and the temporary shutdown of the main airport tunnel and the T3 parking facility for a short time.
